Hello, Chaos’ here. I’m feeling to share my point of view, or maybe a guide to newbie MMO players, especially MMORPG, and this works for most type of online games. So here are the Do’s and Don’t's of MMORPGaming, from my point of view, that is.

DO Know the Game in and out. Don’t register and download the game directly when you found a game. Do a little research, maybe search the official website for classes, features, and system requirements. Why? It would be a big waste of effort, time and money if it turns out you didn’t like the game, or your it can’t be played on your PC. And also, you must know what you wanna be. What kind of character you want to create. And also, if you’re someone like me, y’know, fun all the way, search the Net for cheats, hints, and walkthroughs. But usually MMO games have their own official walkthrough. If you’re a fair gamer, then never mind what I just said.

DO Follow the Main Quest Line, because you’ll learn a lot of the game this way. Also, main Quests usually gives you easy equipments, skills, or other features the game offers. And it’s also an easy source of Experience and money. When your level is quite high, then you could have fun. But still, keep track of the main quest line.

DO Socialize With Others. That is what an Online Game is all about! Playing with someone that you never know before. At least take some time, sit down and chat with someone you meet. Also, don’t forget to add them to your friend list, since who knows you’ll need some help in the future? And also, if someone calls you and you don’t answer them at the least, you will be suspected as a Bot user.

DO NOT Bot. Seriously, it’s not a good thing at all. You won’t be able to have fun and enjoy the beauty of MMORPGs. Also, Bots can’t reply to online chats. That’s how someone know whether you’re boting or not. And usually if someone do found out, they’ll tell the GM and *POW* Character will be banned temporarily, or in some games, thrown to prison for a period of time.

DO NOT Destroy Items you found, because it will be useful later in the game. If it turns out it’s just a piece of junk, you could still sell it for some nickels. This is also how Hunting could bring Exp AND Money.

DO Take Advantage of Double Exp Time. Usually, whether because of an event, item effect, or a feature in the game, you will get a 2x EXP time. Don’t waste any second!!! Heal yourself, Gear up, set a party if you want, and go hunting. 2x Time are always hard to get, or very limited if they’re available in the game by taking it from NPCs. Usually only several hours are given in a week. Don’t worry about your quests, they could wait (usually). Go to a hunting ground that is suitable for your level, or maybe a bit higher. Spam your skills and spells, get drunk in your potions, and enjoy yourself in a shower of Exp Points.

DO NOT Let Any Enemies Escape. Usually enemies will attack you when you got near, but that’s if you’re dealing with brainless NPC. If you’re on a PvP, and you got the upper hand, do anything to keep your enemy stay still. Eventually you may have some sort of immobilization skill, like Stun of Confuse. Use them and hit hard. But if you’re the underdog, just keep using HP potions and get off the map. Wait, on second thought, don’t do PvP, it’s immoral ^^;

Do’s and Don’t's will be updated in a few days, thanks for reading <(^.^)>

~Chaos

BONUS ~Types of Characters Terms in MMORPG~ (once again from moi point of view)

Soloist, are players who prefer to work alone, sounds like Mr. Incredibles from “The Incredibles”…… Anyways, Soloists are not Anti-socials, but they prefer to work on their own to achieve their goal, since it’s ‘Sweeter’ to know you did it all by yourself. Don’t-NEVER Invite Soloist into a Party, cuz most of them don’t have any sense of teamwork at all. ALthough you could risk it, since Soloist are usually powerful and precious member in the MMORPG world.

PP, or Party Player, are those who prefer to work in groups (Team or Party, depends on the game) to either look for friendship by teamwork, finish Boss quests, or merely Exp farming. Although most PP are friendly chaps, don’t get into them too much, since it will effect your confidence. You’ll feel somewhat helpless when you’re playing alone, while you’re usually playing in Teams.

PKer, or Player Killer, are those who takes advantage of the PvP feature in most games. Usually If you do a PvP, the winner will receive a random item, money, or experience from the loser. PKer are those who do PvP for the money and Exp, and not for fun or skill-testing. They usually work in groups, but lone PKers are not rare themselves.

CHARACTER BUILDS

Tanks, or Tanker, are characters with high Defense and Vitality build. Usually this role is perfect for Defensive branch of the Warrior job tree, usually called Knights. Their role is to take damages from teammates or other players. Since their goal is to minimize the damage input of other player, Tanks usually have a skill that could provoke Monsters to attack them, but it depends on your char’s class. Also, it’s very important to have some potion, since your HP will be gushing out very quick in your early days of tanking. I’m personally a Tank-player.

Attackers, are characters specialized in dropping the enemy’s health while he/she doesn’t noticed that his/her HP is also dropping. Most of the times, Attackers doesn’t really care about HP or defensive parameters, since their nature is to attack, attack, and attack. Usually best class to become Attackers are Thief-like classes, the Offensive branch of the warrior tree, and elemental mages. Mages are the most efficient class for this Build, if they take full advantage of elemental properties the enemy have, and attack them with their natural weakness. Thief, or Scouts in some games are fairly good since they could utilize hit-and-run technique. Their high dodge rate and critical hit makes the ideal for his build. Also, usually Attackers could leech HP, or ‘Drain’ the HP of enemies and convert some into their own, so this could cover their great HP loss in battle.

Healer, are of course, the one with the almighty healing skill, which is previous in any game. But healing skills are not a must, since a normal build character with inventory filled with potions are even better! Usually there’s a very ideal class in any game to act as a healer, most of the times called Cleric. Why? An arsenal of variety healing spells and counters for debuff attacks makes them crucial in a party.

Buffer and DeBuffer, are characters with various skills designed specially to increase status of allies(Buff) and decrease status of opponents(DeBuff). Usually mage-type character have an access to a variety of buff and debuff skills. Most of Buffs are, like Increase ATK, Crit Hit, Increase DEF, Cure Poison, etc. Debuffs are, Poisons, Stun, Confuse, Reduce Accuracy, and many other. But they’re pretty helpless on their own, so if you’re building a Buff/Debuffer, make sure you enter a Team/party first before go hunting.

Want more? I will surely add MORE!!
